GIFT FOR LEAGUE PLAYER

IN TEAM FOR AUSTRALIA A presentation was made at the Tokerau Native Land Court yesterday to Mr. S. Watene, of the City League Club, who has been selected to tour Australia this season with the New Zealand team. In making the presentation, a New Zealand travelling rug, Mr. E. p. Earle, the Registrar of the Court, mentioned the pleasure of Mr. Watene’s fellow-employees at his success. As the only Maori member of the New Zealand League team, Mr. Watene would have an added responsibility in representing the Maori race. Mr. Watene suitably replied to the wishes of success expressed by the large attendance at the presentation.
