WELL BRED THREE-YEAR-OLD i Desert Song was the most impres- d sive of the maidens contesting events * at Washdyke last week. His win, on r a very slippery course, on Saturday t was one of the easiest obtained at the c meeting, and had the first-day winner Charmeuse been in that field she v would probably have had to step down j c to him. Desert Song is a three-year- ! old bay gelding by Hunting Song from j Trebelli (half-sister of Melodise), by s Birkenhead from Cantatrice, by Goldsbrough from Songstress, by The Drum- j mer. and is thus half-brother to Finora (holder of the Australian and New Zealand record for seven furlongs). I Finelli, and Will Oakland. He was j purchased by Dr. M. G. Louisson at 'i: the 1928 Trentham sales, for 300 j « guineas, and although he has started i t 16 times to date for one first, four 1 h seconds and three thirds, he has never I g been in such good form as he is at j t present. i-
