COLLECTIONS AT MATCHES
At the meeting of the Auckland Grammar School Board yesterday a request for permission to take up a collection at the King’s-Grammar match on Saturday was received from the Auckland City Mission. Professor A. P. W. Thomas said the secondary school headmasters had decided not to allow collections at any inter-school matches. They considered the collection at Eden Park when the schools played was sufficient. The board upheld the headmasters’ decision. HEADMISTRESS’S HOLIDAY Miss E. M. Johnston, headmistress l of the Auckland Girls’ Grammar School, applied to the board for an extended leave of absence from February to September of next year. She intends to study school conditions abroad and to attend an education conference. The board decided to forward Miss Johnston’s application to the Minister of Education for his approval. A member was appointed to attend the first meeting of the Auckland Education .Conference.
