SPORTING TRIAL NEXT
AN INTERESTING COURSE
Riders from both clubs will take part in the North Shore Club’s sport- j ing trial next Sunday. Riders will meet at Hail’s Corner, Takapuna, at ! 10 a.m., for the run to the course, J but the actual contest is not scheduled to begin until 1 p.m. The course will include a two-mile , stretch of rough cross-country going in which there will be a number of j observed sections. Points will be de-1 ducted in proportion to the offence, j footing involving a loss of three j points, stalling, six points, and a ! fall 12 points. If a rider has to get ; off and push his mount he will lose a further five points. One point will be deducted for every minute over the 39-41 minutes allowed for covering this two-mile stretch. The course will be marked with white and yellow flags, the latter showing the be- j ginning cf each observed section. After this scramble riders will i cover a road surface, partly clay, of about four miles at an average speed of 25 m.p.h., finishing with a hill | climb. Here marks will be deducted ! for footing, etc., and a bonus of 10 ! marks will be allowed the rider who makes the “star” climb.
