Press Association

CHRISTCHURCH, Today. f A CABLEGRAM has been dispatched to the New Zealand n Trade Commissioner in Canada, Mr. J. W. Collins, asking him to secure the services of a noted hydro-electric engineer to report to the Government on the Arapuni scheme. This announcement was made public tonight by thePrime Minister, the Hon. G. W. Forbes, in addressing his constituents at Cheviot.

“It is a very disquieting position," said the Prime Minister. “I don’t know why it is that all these things should come to a head just when I have taken the reins of office. We have to face the facts, and the facts are that one of the most important electrical installations in the Dominion, which supplies the whole of the Auckland Province with power, is in a very serious position.”
