"SHERLOCK HOLMES” AT LONDON
Basil Dean is known to the pla.ySoers of two continents as a. successful Producer of stage plays. "When Paramount were considering the production of the all-talking version of “The Beturn of Sherlock Holmes,” which m ■ n °w to be seen at the London Theatre, Mr. Dean was chosen as the best man to bring to the living screen the impersonation of Sir Arthur Conan Hoyle’s famous character of fiction. The wizard of Baker Street, whose exploits have thrilled millions of read<|'r * the world over, and whose name has pome a household word, now lives. , s role is portrayed by Clive Brook. NVi ‘o. like Basil Dean, the director, is Englishman. The combination of T’fcrk these two have given the famous detective a lifelike and essentially English atmosphere, despite the f a, t that most of the action of the play part on one of the big: transatlantic liners, on her way to America.
In addition to Mr. Brook, there ayin the cast, Betty Lawford, bnggfh leading lady. H. Reeves Smith, Holmes, * Harry Morey and JJonaid Crispe. Buster Keaton acted with Laurel and Bardy the other day—though by acciH© was driving home from the •uetro-Goldwyn-Mayer studios, and noticed the comedy team making a street, seen''.
