QUIET CONTEST
LUNDYN BEATS INDIAN TWO STRAIGHT FALLS In the quietest wrestling match this season, Alex Lundyn defeated Ramzan Khan by two straight falls in the fourth and fifth rounds, at the Town Hall last evening. Only a small crowd was present. The Indian showed himself to be a much more clever wrestler than his countryman, Naranjan Singh, who had such a run of successes last season, but he was not strong enough to pin Lundyn, who was the aggressor practically throughout. The bout was interesting, but the only thrill of night was in an amateur bout, when the two grapplers toppled off the platform to the floor of the hall. “Scotty” McDougall challenged the winner. Mr. Len Wilson was the referee. Lundyn weighed 12st 131 b, and Ramzan Khan 12st 51b. There was plenty of action in the first minute of the first round, but then they quietened down. The Indian brought down Lundyn with a reverse wristlock. which he endeavoured to convert into a short-arm scissors, but Lundyn tipped him off. Both escaped from armlocks and Ramzan slipped out of a hammerlock. After being thrown to the mat with a reverse wristlock in the second session, Lundyn secured a short-arm scissors, but Ramzan slipped out. The Indian had three narrow escapes from falls from a bodv scissors and reverse armlock. a double armlock and a body press and armlock. Lundyn continued to make the time in the third round. He hoisted the Indian in the air and spun him. but failed to dump him hard. Ramzan had a busy time escaping from a variety of holds. Lundyn spun out of a shoulder and armlock at the gong. A wristlock brought Lundyn to the mat in the fourth term, but with a shoulder and armlock the Finn scored the first fall. A section of the crowd who were not in a position to see hooted the decision. Tho fifth round had only been in progress a minute when Lundyn scored the second and deciding fall with a press and armlock. AMATEUR PRELIMINARIES W. Williamson, 9st 41b, and L.
