LITTLE PRICE CHANGE SOUTHERN ONIONS ARRIVE There will be no shipment of fruit from Australia this week, and as a result pineapples will be off the market. Supplies of mandarins are to hand and are being offered at the City Markets. Prices all round show little change. Largo supplies of locally grown apples have been brought out of the cooler, and as a result prices all round are low. Pears are still plentiful. Bananas were dearer at today’s auction, a shortening supply advancing prices accordingly. There was a fair demand for Island oranges, but small Poorman oranges were hard of sale. Lemons met with a good demand and hothouse tomatoes found a fairly large market. Hothouse grapes eased in value. Southern onions are now coming on the market in Auckland. Kumeras from Tauranga are still in good supply. There are again heavy supplies of celery, cabbages and cauliflowers, and good quantities of all other vegetables in season are coming forward. Duck eggs are scarce, and prices have risen for the first quality product. Tn certain grades prices are on a par with, or even higher than, for hen eggs, but this is due to duck eggs being heavier than hen eggs of the same grading.
