BALMORAL TRAM EXTENSION
NO CHANGE IN SECTION “The present third section end on the Dominion Road tramway route appears to be giving satisfaction to a large number of the residents, and I do not recommend any alteration.” This recommendation of the manager of the Transport Board, Mr. A. E. Ford, was adopted by the board this morning following a report on the petition of 62 people for the extension of the route to Marsden Avenue. The petitioners said that, Avere equal service on the route given in comparison with the Sandringham route, the third or Balmoral section would be at Calgary Street, but Marsden Avenue was suggested as a compromise. Mr. Ford reported that Marsden Avenue was about 10 chains from the present section, Avhich had been decided after much consideration. Were the section moved, one-section passengers on the fourth section desiring to do business in the Balmoral area would have the additional 10 chains to walk. The sections on the Sandringham route were to be reviewed at an early date, when the board considered an extension along Sandringham Road. VICTORIA AVENUE STOP In view oC the distance between the present tramway stop at Manawa Road and the terminus of the Victoria Avenue route. Rcmuera, the Transport Board this morning adopted the recommendation of the manager, Mr. A. E. Ford, to provide for a stop halfway between Manawa. Road and the terminus,
