The trucks following were telescoped and piled themselves into a mass of tangled wreckage, which caught fire and was quickly reduced to ashes and twisted iron. The lines had been affected by rain. Help was soon forthcoming. The driver, named Bailey, was released, but he died later, having had both legs broken and his chest badly injured. The fireman, named Guthrie, was also badly hurt.
