U.S.A. PUTS MORE ARMS ON EXISTING WARSHIPS RESISTING SUBMARINES WASHINGTON, Saturday. The United States Navy Department proposes to modernise eight more battleships in such a manner that about 3,000 tons will be added to each ship, increasing the total tonnage of the country’s capital ships to ,475,000> The alterations will comprise mainly deck armour and anti-submarine "blisters.”
