June Brides Choose Satin and Lovely Lace
CITY WEDDING BRIDAL GOWN OF IVORY GEORGETTE AND SILVER LACE PLATT—FLYNN A pretty wedding was celebrated this week at St. Patrick’s Church, when Kathleen, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Flynn, of Hargreaves Street, Ponsonby, was married to Percy Herbert, third son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Platt, of Papakura. The ceremony was performed by ihe Kev. Or. Buxton. The bride, who was given away by her father, chose a frock of ivory georgette with a yoke and deeply scalloped ankle-length hem of silver lace, and a basque effect at the waist outlined in silver. Her veil of tulle, which formed the train, was edged with narrow filet lace and was caught to the head with a coronet of orange blossom and pearls. She carried a bouquet of white flowers. Miss Joan Flynn attended her sister as maid, wearing a frock of sea-green satin beaute with a flared ankle-length skirt. The corsage had a Vandyke J yoke outlined with tiny pink rosebuds and finished on the hip with a satin bow held in place with a diamente buckle, She wore a green tulle headdress edged with pink rosebuds and carried a bouquet of yellow chrysanthemums. Little Desmond Sullivan, who carried the bride’s train, wore a white suit and little Joyce Gleeson was flower-girl, wearing a frock of shell i pink georgette. She wore a pink I tulle and gold braid head-dress, and I carried a basket of pink flowers. The duties of hc'st man were car- } lied out by Mr. AV. Fryer. Mrs. Flynn, the bride’s mother, had on a coat of black silk with skunk furs and a black hat trimmed with I white ospreys. Airs. The bride entered the church on the arm of her uncle, Mr. 11. R. Ferguson, and was dressed in a becoming frock of ivory georgette inset with lace and trimmed with seed pearls. Her veil was of embroidered silk net. arranged on head with a coronet *of orange blossom sprays and net, and fell to ankle length. She carried a shower bouquet of white flowers and maidenhair fern. The bridesmaid. Miss Myrtle Clothier, was frocked in paradise blue georgette, with panels of blue thread lace. As head-dress, she wore a capette of blue tulle ornamented with silk sprays. Her bouquet was of cream and pink flowers. Little Joyce and Joan Ferguson, as flower girls, were prettily dressed in iris mauve and phlox pink crepe de chine respectively, with overdress of tulle frills edged with ribbon; their head-dresses matched their frocks and they carired bouquets of irises, hyacinths, violets and purple pansies. "Mr. Alan Clothier acted as best man. At the reception held at the Rialto, the guests were received by Mrs. Ferguson, aunt of the bride, who was dressed in reseda green and beige wool crepe de chine, with hat to match, and fox fur. Her bouquet was of mauve flowers. Mrs. Clothier, mother of the bridegroom. chose a dress of peacock blue and silver grey crepe de chine, with hat to match, and fox fur. Her bouquet was also of mauve flowers. WALTON CHURCH IS PRETTILY DECORATED FOR WEDDING CEREMONY KUHTZ—ADAMS The Walton Methodist Church was the scene of a pretty wedding on Wednesday. The bride was Eva Alice, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. Adams, of Walton, and she was married to William Walter, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. 11. W. Kulitz, of Tirau. The Rev. Gardiner Brown, of Morrinsville. officiated and Mrs. Brown played the wedding music. The church was decorated by friends of the bride with white and pink flowers and greenery, and a wedding bell was suspended from an arch of greenery'. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a frock of white orepe de chine over white satip, with four points dipping to the ankles and bound with satin ribbon. Her veil of white embroidered tulle was held in place with sprays of orange blossoms, and she carried a shower bouquet of white sweet peas, narcissus and maidenhair fern. The bridesmaid. Miss Thelma Bundle, of Hamilton, a cousin of the bride, wore a frock of jade green georgette with long points dipping to the ankles. Her head-dress was of green and silver to tone, and she carried a bouquet of golden chrysanthemums and maidenhair fern. Air. Norman Kulitz. of Walton, was best man. After the ceremony a reception was held. Mrs. Adams received-the guests wearing a tweed costume, maroon hat, and fox furs.
LOVELY GOWN OF IVORY LACE WORN BY OHAEAWAI BRIDE HENWOOD-SMITH A wedding of interest was celebrated at Ohaeawai on Thursday 1 evening, when Edith Mary, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. S- ! Smith, of "Pakura,’’ Ohaeawai, was married to Albert Ernest Roy, elder son of Mr. and Mrs. T. Hen- | wood, of Kaikohe. The Rev. W. E. Connelly performed the ceremony. Given away by her father, the bride wore a picture frock of white lace and crepe de chine, fashioned on long lines, with the corsage fitting closely to the hips and the skirt had alternate panels of lace and crepe de chine, embroidered with silver beads, and finished at the waist with a cluster of orange blossom. She wore a tulle veil caught to the head with a coronet of orange blossoms, and she carried a shower bouquet of pale pink flowers. Aliss Nancy Smith and Miss Anne Tlows were bridesmaids. and wore long flared frocks of almond green and j autumn tinted tulle respectively, with tulle head-dresses to match, and they ! carried shower bouquets in autumn ; shades. Air. John Smith, brother of the bride, j carried out the duties of best man.

LI. Mann, to 13dward Arthur, eldest son of Mrs. AT. 13. Baer, of Cambridge, and the late Air. 13. Baer, of Ivakahi. The Rev. Jas. Hay officiated, and Mr. A. Towsey presided at the organ. Given away by her brother-in-law, Air. Owen Millar, the bride wore a pretty frock of ivory satin beaute, with a chenille lace overdress. Her veil, which formed a long train, was caught to the head with a coronet of orange blossoms, and she carried a shower bouquet of white flowers. The bride was attended by three maids Miss Eileen Whittington (Auckland), wearing a frock of cameo pink georgette, with a tulle hat in the same shade; Aliss Sarah Millar (Auckland), who had on a frock of apricot satin, with a three-tiered skirt and a tulle hat; and Aliss Ida Baer, sister of the bridegroom, who wore a powder blue georgette frock and a tulle hat. They carried shower bouquets to match their frocks. TAUMARUNUI CEREMONY O’REILLY—TYNAN The wedding took place at the Anglican Church. Taumarunui, of Christine Gwendoline, only daughter of Air. and Airs. C. Tynan, pf Taumarunui. and Prank John, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank O'Reilly, of Alatapuna. Tlie service was performed by the vicar, the Rev. J. W. Burley. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a frock of ivory georgette. handsomely beaded in silver, and worn over ivory satin. The beautifully embroidered oval veil was held in place with a cluster of orange blossom, and fell in folds to form a train over the bridal gown. A bouquet of pink roses, anemones and maidenhair fern completed a very dainty toilette. Aliss Thelma Plummer, of Waimiha. was in attendance as bridesmaid, and was wearing a gown of apricot lace over satin, and a wide-brimmed bat of crinoline straw. Her bouquet was of Iceland poppies with autumn-tinted relief. Air. Edward O’Reilly acted as besi ma n. To receive her guests at the reception held in the Theatre Royal. Mrs Tynan wore a gown of beige jersey silk velour with a hat to match. Airs. O’Reilly was in a black satin frock, with a picture hat. To travel for her honeymoon, which is being spent in Auckland and Rotorua. the bride wore a smart grey tailored costume, with a blue bat and a fur-trimmed coat. MAIDS WEAR MAUVE AND APPLE GREEN EDGAR—MOW IH AN The marriage was celebrated at St. Matthew’s Church recently of Miss Eileen Frances Moynilian. third daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. Moynilian. of Arch Hill Road, Grey Lynn, to Mr. William Xeil Edgar, only son of Mrs. and the late Mr. M. Edgar, of Sussex Street. Grey Lynn. Canon C. 11. Grant Cowon performed the ceremony. Given away by her brother-in-law. Mr. L>. Geard. the bride wore a pretty gown of cameo pink satin faille with long full skirt forming a short train at the back. The corsage was cm- , broidered with silver sequins and small motifs of silver sequinned embroidery ornamented the skirt. The trainlength veil was of deep parchment net and was arranged with a Juliet cap. Her bouquet was of pink and white flowers In attendance as bridesmaids were Miss Molly Moynilian, sister of the bride, and Miss Nancy Edgar, sister of the bridegroom, who wore frocks of mauve and apple green satin beaute respectively. The frocks were made in Early Victorian fashion with full skirts, which reached the ankles at the back, and a vandyked band of silver lace was inle? into the corsage just below the neck-line. Their satin Juliet caps, which were the same shades as their frocks, were bordered with ruclied tulle and finished at one side with a large tulle bow. and they carried horse-shoe bouquets to tone. Mr H. Bolton attended the bridegroom as best man. and Mr. Cedric : Jones was groomsman. Mrs. Moynilian later received her ' guests in a frock of black satin beaute I | with a black panne velvet hat. Mrs. i Edgar, the bridegroom's mother, was in a brown satin frock with a hat to ' tone.

COOKE—STEWART A pretty wedding was recently celebrated at the Presbyterian Church. Tirau. when Tessie Wilson, youngest daughter of Air. and Airs. A. Stewart, of Tirau. was married to Rupert Ernest Livingstone Cooke, fourth son of Airs. .7. S. Cooke, of Remuera. Auckland. The ceremony was conducted by the Rev. W. T. Krabyn. and Aliss Lucy Hamlin presided at the organ. Given away by her father, the bride was wearing a dainty gown of flowered pink taffeta over which she wore a pink embroidered veil caught with s?praj s of orange blossoms. Her bouquet wa> in shade to tone. Aliss Dorothy Stewart, cousin of th bride, was bridesmaid, wearing a frock of jade green georgette and she carried a pretty shower bouquet. Little Alison Gray, niece of the bride, was flower girl and wore a pretty frock o. pink crepe de chine. She carried >i basket, of violets. Air. George Cooke attended his brother as best man. The church was beautifully decorated by the members of the Ladies’ Guild. After the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride's parents, where Mrs. Stewart received the guests wearing a frock of navy crepe da chine.
