BELTS YOU CAN MAKE AT HOME
If you possess a neat little paste buckle you will find* it worth while to adapt it to a waistband. Fashion Is quite determined to feat- j ure belts throughout the season, and a black one of petersham ribbon will prove as useful as any, if you tvant to make one super-example serve for wear with various dresses. Almost newer than the buckle is the flat gilt or exidised metal ring. On one side, the ribbon end is sewn round; on the other it is slipped through and passed beneath a little ribbon loop jjiat conceals a press-stud. Some of the smartest frocks feature belt ornaments of the doorknocker order, little hanging trimmings being added with very quaint effect. Pendants, having temporarily gone out of fashion so far as necklets are concerned, may be used effectively on the new belts. A jade plaque, for example, is admirable on a belt in the same shade of green, while one in amethyst is lovely on a mauve waistband.
