LOVE PREFERRED
HUNGARIAN ARCHDUKE WANTS BEAUTY FEUDS IN FAMILY Central Europe lias long been without. any Rojal or even semi-Royal gossip. But, in Vienna, is a tale of love, a kingly crown, an angry mother, and a beautiful wife who wishes to leave her husband so as to marry the claimant to a throne, says the “Daily Chronicle.” Its centra! figure is the Archduke Albrecht of Habsburg. He is said to be the richest Habsburg Archduke alive today, and is regarded by his followers as likely some day to wear the crown of Hungary. Hungarian legitimists, of course, support of the claim of the boy Prince Otto, the son of the late and last ! Kaiser Karl. But Albrecht is favoured by many other monarchists who arc not “legitimists.” Archduke Albrecht, according to the Vienna newspaper “Hie Stunde,” is beginning to tire of waiting for this uncertain crown. 1 He is now 33 years of age, and is planning to contract a love marriage, j instead of waiting for his mother (the i Archduchess Isabella) to choose for | him a bride who could fitly become j bis queen, if ever Archduchess Isabella I were able to have her son crowned King of Hungary. ! In- years past Archduke Albrecht was one of the most noticeable figures in Budapest society; but. for several months now' he has been living in retirement on one of his country esI tates. Two Domestic Quarrels According to “Die Stunde,*’ there lias been a quarrel between him and his mother concerning future wife. He wishes to marry a beautiful I Hungarian society woman, who has no title whatever, and who is now . suing for a divorce from her husband | so that she may be free to marry , Albrecht. j Backing up the Archduchess Isabella, in her opposition to her son's intentions regarding the beautiful wife ; of the untitled citizen, are arrayed many important Hungarian political giants. ! These are “Free Electors.” If or when the great Powers again allow | Hungary to have a king, that monarch must be elected by the Free Electors. Should an archduke, who is otherwise eligible for election, marry bei neath him socially, he could never | elected after the Free Electors had I required him to obey liis mother and the traditions of his race. A personage with such a destiny is required to marry' for rank, instead ' of obeying his heart and marrying f° r j love.
