Jeffreys, who is in charge of the trans-Pacific department of the Union Steam Ship Company, was a passenger for San Francisco on the Tahiti. Mr. J. Watanabe. representative of the Osaka Shosen Kaisha, a Japanese shipping firm, is staying at the Grand Hotel. He returned yesterday from a visit to Rotorua, and leaves by the Maunganui today for Sydney. The Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, Leader of the Opposition, left by car for Taranaki yesterday morning.
