RAILWAYS AND POLITICS
HINDRANCE TO DEPARTMENT “There is very little hope or controlling the railways in a businesslike manner until the Railway Department is divorced from politics.” This opinion was given before the Chamber of Commerce Council yesterday, when Mr. A. G. Lunn moved that the Chamber should suggest this aspect to the Prime Minister, the Hon. G. TV. Forbes, for referring to the Commission set up to inquire into the operation of the railways. The motion was carried. A decision was made by which the Chamber advocated the placing of the railways under commission control.
