ENTERTAINMENT TO RAISE FUNDS FOR JASPER CALDER
AUCKLAND ARTISTS VISIT HELENSVILLE A most successful concert, followed by a dance, was given on Saturday evening at ITinemoa I-lall, Parakai, by a party of Auckland artists, _ and a largo attendance helped to increase the funds, which are to be handed to the Rev. Jasper Calder, to buy blankets for the needy. On Sunday afternoon a sacred concert was given at Parakai House, when the guests and visitors from other houses responded very readily to the appeal. Miss Born a Andrew intimated that the contributions would be handed intact to Mr. Calder, each artist having paid his or her own expenses. Mrs. Rimmer, the proprietress, assisted most ably by serving afternoon tea to the assembly. The performers were: —Misses Born a Andrew, Myra Monk, Edna Thornes, Mona Walbank, Mary Andrew, Kath. Coleman, Hope Asher, Messrs. Rex Yates, Raymond Reeve, H. Hunter, Will Roberts, O. 3*ees, W. Johnston and Cummings. Mesdames Dunn and Andrew and Miss Asher acted as accompanists. The orchestra was provided by Mr. W. K. Francis. Those who kindly lent tlieir cars and drove them were Mrs. B. Andrew, Messrs. Bright, Andrew, Francis, John Andrew, Hubber, Scotting, Roberts, and Hunter.
