MAORI DOLL PLEASES

GIFT TO LEAGUE FOR PEACE A Maori doll, dressed by Guide Rangi, of Rotorua, was sent some months ago to Miss Jane Adams, president of the World International League of Peace and Freedom, on the occasion of the league’s fortieth anniversary. By the last mail from America, M*-s. Emily Gibson, secretary of the New Zealand section of the league, received a charming letter from 2*l iss Adams, saying how much the gift had been appreciated. “May I thank you for the charming doll,” she wrote. . . . “The doll excited great interest, and I was proud to give the history of its origin.” The doll was dressed in an exact replica of the costume worn by a poi dancer at Rotorua.
