CYCLIST KILLED

COLLISION WITH CAR FATALITY NEAR CAMBRIDGE From Our Otcn Correspondent CAMBRIDGE, Today. A fatality occurred on the main road, near Karapiro, three miles from Cambridge, about 1.15 this morning, when Mr. Robert Adams, single, aged about 30, was knocked off his bicycle through a collision with a car and killed almost instantaneously. Mr. Adams was returning to Cambridge when he met a car driven by Mr. James Oliver Barnett, carpenter, Putaruru, who was proceeding home. It is surmised that the bicycle skidded in loose sand and the car apparently went right over the cycle and the rider. Mr. Adams was shockingly mutilated, his left arm being badly fractured, one leg broken at the thigh, and severe injuries were received to his face. He died almost immediately. The car driver, Mr. Barnett, suffered a severe gash over his temple and shock. A companion, Mr. Malcolm Angus, also of Putaruru, was uninjured, but is suffering from shock. Mr. Adams was a farmer, but had been boarding at Cambridge for some time. He had been spending the evening with friends at Karapiro and was returning home when he met his death. He has a brother residing at Putaruru.
