WARPLANE’S NICE EFFORT LINKMAN BREAKS NEAR FINISH The chief attraction at Alexandra Park this morning was the twelve-furlong workout between five prominent pacers, three of which are engaged in the Mark Memorial Handicap, the other two being in the Cornwall Handicap. The runners were Linkman (V. Alborn). Vendome (J. Kennerley), Logan's Pride CD. Watts). Wilma Dillon (W. Tomkinson) and "Warplane (J. Shaw). Linkman went away with a good lead, while "Warplane, slow to move, was several lengths in the rear. Linkman carried them to the half-mile in 1.13, but at the mile, reached in 2.21, he was closely followed by Wilma Dillon. Vendome, Logan’s Pride (outer) and Warplane. Along the back the last-named went up fast, and with the exception of Logan’s Pride, who was a couple of lengths away, there was nothing between the others at the turn. In the run home. Linkman left his feet and sopped Vendome, Wilma Dillon finishing up a shade ahead of Warplane, with Logan's Pride next. The journey occupied 3.27, but the honours of the go were with Warplane, who made up his lost ground in great style. The last half was negotiated in 1.6. Crossing the top, Logan’s Pride struck himself, which caused him to drop back, but he was pacing solidly at tia finish, •
