DARING JEWEL THEFT

HOLE CUT IN GLASS DOOR IN FULL VIEW OF STREET Press Association WELLINGTON, Today. Within full view of passers-by a daring robbery took place in the heart of the city between six and seven o’clock last evening, when for the third time in 12 months entrance was forced into the shop of Alex and Company, jewellers and watchmakers, in Farish Street. Some diamond rings and watches were stolen. A hole about six inches square was cut in the thick plate-glass of the doorway close to the handle. Several motor-cars were parked in the vicinity round about the time the burglary took place, and considering the number of people who used the street it is difficult to imagine that the thieves were not seen.
