MORRINSVILLE NOTES

At Monday’s meeting of tlie Piako County Council, Mr. W. R. Lowry was appointed representative of the Piako County on the Thames Valley Elec-tric-Power Board, in place of Mr. J. B. Thomas, who recently resigned on account of ill-health. The half-yearly installation of officers of the Morrinsville Lodge, M.U., T.0.0.F.. was held on Saturday evening, Lecture-Master Bro. G. F. Oates acting as installing officer. The following officers were installed: —N.G., Bro. A. Ferguson: V.G., Bro. D. Noffke; E.S.. Sister K. Smith; 1.P.N.G., Sister Yj. M. Davis; warden, Sister R. Johnston. Mr. J. AV. Clark, of Kereone Road, was appointed secretary of the Morrinsville branch of the Farmers’ Union on Saturday, in place of Mr. J. L. Faulkner, who resigned. The branch decided to place on record the services given by Air. Faulkner, and several speakers paid tributes to liis efficient management. Three farms in the Morrinsville district have recently been sold to Taranaki buyers. Air. J. F. Norman, of Kereone, has sold his farm of 115 acres to Mr. AV. Cunningham, of Manaia; Air. A. Groves, of Piako, has sold his property to Air. J. Ebbett. of Opunake, and. Air. D. Bradbury, of New Plymouth, has bought Air. F. AI. Ryan’s farm at Walton. At the conclusion of the ordinary business at Alonday’s meeting of the Piako County Council, the chairman. Cr. W. R. Lowry, said he had received the resignation of Cr. F. W. Walters (Waitoa), who was leaving shortly on a. visit to Australia, and would probably be settling in another district on his return. Cr. Walters was chairman of the council in the years 1920A start is to be made this week by a Hamilton contractor with additions to the To Puninga cheese factory, which will practically double its capacity.
