ST. JOHN’S GUILD
MANY MATTERS DISCUSSED ! AT MONTHLY MEETING f The monthly meeting: of the St. John’s Methodist Women’s Guild, Ponsonby, was held In the school liall yesterday afternoon, when the newlyelected president, Mrs. George Frost, presided. The first part of the afternoon was given to the business, much correspondence being' handled and discussed. A memorial window, to be placed in the church in memory of the late Miss Margaret Scott, was decided upon. It was decided by the members to attend the Leys Institute early in July, when Miss Melville would give a lecture, with lantern slides, on the necessity of all women purchasing New Zea-land-made goods, and so help the unemployment problem. . The members vetoed any proposal that might be made to lower the status of our trained nurses.
The report of the National Council’s annual meeting was presented by the delegate.
The guild was honoured by a visit from the Mayoress, Airs. A. D. Campbel, who graciously thanked the guild for its help in making the Auckland West obstetrical endowment appeal such a success.
The president introduced Airs. C. E. Maguire and the visitors from the Franklin Road and Richmond Guilds, and all members present listened attentively to a very inspiring address on “Home/ by Airs. Alaguire.
At the close, Mrs. Campbell and Mrs. Maguire were asked to accept, on behalf of all present, the warmest thanks and appreciation lor honouring the guild and making the afternoon such an enjoyable one.
