Gordon, nh b, by Bachelor's Double— Ocean Light syrs 3 There were 20 runners. Won by a. length and a-half, a neck separating second and third. Lust year this race was worth £2.110, but yesterday’s event would be in the vicinity of £2,655 in value. The winning horse is by the leading French sire Comrade, and was bred in Franco by his owner, who is one of The leading sportsmen of that country. For the past couple of seasons Bonny Boy 11. has been trained at Newmarket by the well-known trainer, P. Gilpin. The French invasion for the Royal A scot meeting has begun in earnest, and they may score other successes before the fixture concludes on Friday. Today (Wednesday), the famous Royal Hunt Cup. 7 furlongs 166 yards, is to bo run, and tomorrow there is the biggest event of the lot, the famous Mold Cup, 2J miles. It was for this tatter race that the brilliant Australian four-year-old. Strephon 11., was sent to England, but as be has been nff-colour since his arrival he will not be a runner. It will be remembered that the last Gold Cup contest was wop by the feated the American horse Reigh Count and the French representative Palais Royal 11. The stake that day was worth £3,640. This time the stake will be about £4,000. Reigh Count is now at the stud in U.S.A., and Invershin was not entered for tomorrow's race, which Is recognised as one of the sternest tests of stamina. Among the entries for the Gold Cup ire Atliford (an older brother to Trigo). Lord Derby’s pair Fairway and Bosworth, Hotweed. Kopi and Palais Royal 11. None of the crack three- \ ear-olds were nominated.
