A SPORTING PEER
EARL OF SEFTON DEAD AT AGE OF 59 YEARS ONCE BIG GAME HUNTER Reed. 11.25 a.m. RUGBY, Monday. The death is announced of the Bari of Sefton, aged 59, a well-known sporting Peer, whose large estates at Liverpool included the Grand National Racecourse. In his younger days the Earl did much big game hunting in Africa. He was Master of the Horse in 1906-7, under the Liberal Government having charge of all matters relating to the King's stables, but resigned owing to a disagreement with the Government’s policy.
