Rotorua Notes

BRIDGE AND FIVE-HUNDRED TOURNAMENT On Thursday last St. Luke’s Guild, at Rotorua, held a very successful progressive bridge and five-hundred tournament in the Parish Hall. The rooms had been decorated with native Jlora, autumn leaves and berries. Mr. Halkett had charge of the five-hundred tournament and Mr. A. Rees-George the bridge tables. A dainty supper was served by the members of the guild. Mrs. D. C. Bates presented the prizes to the following players:—Miss Gunn. Miss L. M. Crawford (Paris), Mr. Tanner and Mrs. W. T. Brown. Those present were:—Mesdames D. C. Bates, Grove, Geisen, Hogan, G. Thomas. Boucher, Tanner, Quiglev, Todd, W. T. Brown, Kane, W. W. P. Hall, Hitchcock, Andrews, D. George, Tapper, Winslade, Booth, Sommerville, Ellis, W. A. Carter, Cottrell, Golthrope. Misses F. Campbell, C. Campbell-Smith (Nelson), Roe (Mamaku), Anderson, K. Hall, Gunn, Corbett, McPherson, Rae, Brian, J. Drummond, Bull, L. M. Crawford (Paris), Todd, P. St. Clair, J. Geisen, Campy, Mullet, W. Campbell, Messrs. Rev. D. C. Bates, Halkett, A. Rees-George, Tanner, W. A. Carter and Cottrell. SPORTS CLUB DANCE The Public Works Sports Club held a dance and five-hundred tournament in the Majestic Ballroom last "Wednesday. The supper tables had been decorated with chrysanthemums. Mr. Bexley was in charge of the five-hundred tournament. The winners of which were Mr. and Mrs. Tanner. Mr. Scott proved an efficient M.C., and Mr. Garth played extras. Epi Shalfoon's "Melody Boys” played bright dance music. Those present were Mesdames Armer, Costello, Ralph, Pope, Hollis, Nlason, Booth, Parkes, Anderson, Henderson, Clubb, Tanner, Par&ta, Cann, Misses Lynn, Hodgson, Cosley, Vuglar, West, B.
