WOMAN BLACKMAILER
DEMANDED £250 FROM OLD MAN SENT TO GAOL FOR YEAR Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, Today. The magistrate, Mr. E. D. Mosley, S.M., today sentenced Miriam Ada Goodrick, aged 29, a domestic servant, to one year’s reformative treatment on a charge of attempting to extract £250 from a former employer, a man aged 87 years, by means of a threatening letter. The police said the woman alleged she had been indecently assaulted and demanded the money. The man immediately informed the police and the woman was trapped. The magistrate said the woman was an absolute danger to the community.
