PARADE OF YEARLINGS AT WAIPA FIXTURE Rising two-year-olds to the nu*rbe rof nearly a score are domiciled at Te Awamutu, and Wrere is every prospect of seeing the youngsters in action there next Saturday week. F. E. Loomb's stable shelters no less than five yearlings, and A- Cook is reported to have four. W. Stone ha* a couple, and others are scattered among other stables. The question of providing trainers with an opportunity to parade the youngsters on a race day was raised at Friday’s meeting of the executive ©{ the Waipa Racing Club. Mr. Weal stated that local trainers would probably appreciate the opportunity to sprint their coming two-year-olds down the straight between two of the races on Saturday week. There were about a dozen juveniles in preparation, and he thought most of them would be produced. In Favour The idea found favour, and it wa» decided to arrange for the parade immediately after the Hunters’ Steeplechase. Air. 'Weal was deputed to tak* charge of the parade, and nominations dree) will be received in time for Inclusion in the race book. It is probable that, weather conditions being favourable, a few youngsters from nearby training centres will also be given an outing. A Bit Early Of course the end of June is a bit early to sprint rising two-year-olds but for educative purposes thte parade will be_ invaluable, only if it include* a two-furlong sprint or a run up the straight. The first race for present yearlings eventuates at Wanganui on September 13, while in this province the Avondale Stakes and the two-year-old handicap on the first and second days respectively of the Avondale spring meeting on September 20 and 22 give Auckland youngsters their introduction to tht more serious side of the tun. Prior to these events, however, there will b« two-year-old parades at the Mart on meeting on September 6 and on the first day, September 11, of the Wanganui J.C. fixture. It is also probable that there wii be the usual two-year-old parade at Ellerslie prior to the racing at the Pakuranga Hunt Club meeting or. August 23. Entries for the parade at the Waip< meeting on Saturday week elesa at 5 p.m. next Friday, when the acceptances are taken. The dry course at Te AwamuL should prove ideal for the evert.
