A TEMPORARY reaction to the upward movement in the prices for Australian stocks seems to have set in on ’Change. Prices, for the most part, have an easier tendency.

Business On Auckland Market Transactions on the Auckland market over the past 24 hours have included the following: Yesterday afternoon. —Taupiri Coal, 265; Northern Steam, 14s Bd. At this morning’s early call: Commercial Bank of Australia, 22s Id; Taranaki Oil, 2s. At midday: Bank of New Zealand, 59s 9d; Northern Steam (con.), 6s 6d; Huddart, Parker (pref.), 19s 9d; New Zealand Refrigerating (con.), 5s 3d: Taranaki Oil. 2s 2d. * * • Market at Midday Little activity Mas recorded on 'Change at midday. The banking "•roup is quiet, with buyers not showing quit© the same strength as last weekShipping shares meet with a steady demand on a firm market; Huddart Parker ordinaries are slightly firmer. Taranaki Oils changed hands freely this morning, the market moving up to s 2d after a long period of inactivity, "argely as a result of increased inquiry from Australia; a point “dabblers” in this scrip should remember is that there is a liability of 8s a share, folJowiDS the reconstruction of a little while back. * * • Hill and Plummer, Ltd. A net profit of £4,963 is shown in the balance of Hill and Plummer, Ltd., for the year ended April 30. This, together with the amount brought forward from last year, made £16,083 available for appropriation, against
£16,012 last year. An interim dividend of 4 per cent, paid in November absorbed £2,271, and a final dividend of 4 per cent., making 8 per cent, for the year, absorbed a further £2,271, leaving £9,541 at credit of profit and loss. Coal Oil (N.Z.), Ltd. Coal Oil (N.Z.), Ltd., reports for week ended June 14: j 'Drilled to 852 ft in alternating hard | sandstone and shale.—P.A. j Moturoa Oil Well The Moturoa oil well has been drilled to a depth of 1,290 feet in grey shale. The 10-inch casing lias reached 1,270 feet.—P.A. * * * Mine Managers’ Reports Mine managers report as follow: Tui.—The rise on No. 2 reef has been extended 4ft. The reef maintains its size and is fairly heavily mineralised, carrying iron and copper pyrites, a little zinc blende and a fair amount of antimony. Tvloana.l_a.iari.—During the week the No. 1 reef north was driven on 4ft. The quartz is carrying iron pyrites and silica. The drive on No. 2 reef south was extended 3ft. The reef is 3*ft wide, is heavily' mineralised, and looks promising for making gold.' • * 4!
