Ehlert (temporarily); third, Mr. J. M. Buchanan. The Maheno recommissioned at Port Chalmers, Tinder the command of Captain J. Ryan, whose deck officers are; Chief, Mr. A. T. Adam: second, Mr. T. A. Mac-k; third, Mr. C. R. Cariyon; fourth, Mr. A. S. Smith. Captain E. Harris took command of the Otokia at Wellington, relieving Captain A. R. Stewart for instructions. Captain G. B, Hoddinott has been ap-
pointed to the Karepo, relieving Captain R. L. Davies for orders. Captain W. D. Cameron, of the Wahiiie, is at present on holiday. Mr. W. E. Jones is rejoining the Otokia as chief officer this trip. Mr. L. Gillan is to await instructions at Wellington. Mr, J. H. Ibbotson, second officer of the Otokia, was relieved at Wellington, * < place being taken by Mr. \V. A. A. Morris. Mr. T. F. Dickie has relieved Mr. T. Evington as second engineer on the John. Mr. P. E Brewer has rejoined the Tofua as chief engineer after holiday leave. Mr. 11. W. Insley has joined the Waipiata as second engineer in place of Mr. C. C. Cleary on sick leave. Captain J. Shu is due next Thursday. , 7^ E 1 KAR J*Gb —The Kartigi cleared Adelaide at 6 p.m. on Friday for Melbourne, to complete loading for Wellington. Castlecliff, New Plymouth and Auckland. COAL FROM NEWCASTLE.—The steamer Mernoon was due at Wellington this morning from Newcastle with a cargo of coal for discharge at Wellington and Lyttelton. THE MARAMA.—After relieving in the Cook Strait ferry service the Marania is to be transferred back to the inter's? 1 ?, 1 ? 1 * 1 run on Thursday. She is to lea*e Wellington for Sydney at three o’clock on Friday afternoon, and will leave Sydney for Auckland on June 27. OTOKIA DUE TOMORROW.—The Union Company’s tanker Otokia is due here late tomorrow morning from Wellington to dock for cleaning and painting. She sails from here for San Pedro direct to load another cargo of fueloil for discharge into the company’s tanks at Wellington. HUNTINGDON SAILS TOMORROW. The New Zealand Shipping Company advises that the Federal steamer Huntingdon, now at Queen’s "Wharf completin'her loading for New York, Halifax, and London, is to be dispatched p.m. tomorrow for those ports, via the Panama Canal. KING JOHN WIT H PHOSPHATES. The motor-ship King John is reported to l ave cleared Ocean Island on June 14 with a cargo of phosphates for discharge at Auckland and Wanganui. She is expected to arrive here on June 25 and will discharge to the agency of Henderson and Macfarlane, Ltd. WAIPAHI WITH FRUIT CARGO.—The AAaipahi, the Union Company’s Island fruit steamer, arrived at Auckland from Cook Islands this morning with a cargo of 53,000 cases of fruit. The consignment comprised 300 cases of bananas, the remainder being oranges, besides which there were 100 tons of copra. The vessel left Rarotonga, on June 7 and experienced moderately fine weather all the wav. with variable winds. Captain G. D. Fraser is in command of the vessel. The Waipahi sans for Cook Islands on June 25 to load another cargo of fruit for New Zealand. WARSHIPS’ MOVEMENTS. HMS Laburnum arrived from the Hauraki Gulf on Saturday morning, and is at Sheerlegs Wharf. On Wednesday she is to leave on a prolonged cruise to the South Sea Islands, and will return about the middle of October. H.M.S. Dunedin is still in the Hauraki Gulf carrying out gunnery and torpedo exercises. The Naval Department advises that she will be engaged at gun-firing at an aircraft target tomorrow at 3 0 a.m. and 2 p ni The gun-firing will also take place at 10 a.m. on Thursday morning. She wiU return to port on Friday.
MAUNGANUI DUE 7 A.M.—Radio advice from the intercolonial steamer Maunganui states that she expects to arrive here from Sydney at 7 o’clock tomorrow morning. She has passengers, mails and cargo, and is scheduled to sail on her return trip to Sydney at 3 p.m. on Friday.
MAH AN A LOADING.—A. S. Paterson and Company, Ltd., advises that the Shaw Savill steamer Maliana, now at Wellington loading for Halifax and London, is to leave there tomorrow night for Auckland to complete her cargo. She is due here on Thursday night and is scheduled to sail finally from this port on June 23 on her Homeward voyage, via the Panama Canal. WEIRBANK DUE 8 P.M.—Further wireless advice received by Henderson and Macfarlane, Ltd., from the Bank Line motor-ship Weirbank, states that heavy weather will delay her arrival here from Chile until S o’clock tonight. The vessel has a large cargo of nitrates for discharge here and at Australian ports, is to berth at King’s Wharf. AORANGI IN PORT.—An arrival last evening was the Royal Mail motor-liner Aorangi from Vancouver.
