PLAZA AND TIVOLI
“SOUTH SEA ROSE” That sparkling star of innumerable -Broadway stage successes, Lenore I Inc, is proving' to be just as big a hit in talking pictures, judging by the crowds at the Plaza and Tivoli Theatres these days. In fact, the role of ru2?, a .V, e ls every bit as powerful as Kiki or “Lulu Belle.’’ This particular feature, “South Sea Kose, ’ a Fox Movietone adaptation of the stage play by Tom Cushing, was directed by Allan Dwan. The role essayed by this great star is that of a daughter of a Frenchman on a tropical isle. She intrigues the natives and whites with her dancing and beauty and finally runs off with a sea captain who takes her to New Kngland. At the Plaza a second big attraction is being shown in “Splinters." the popular wartime revue show produced by the original cast. | At the Tivoli the second attraction | is “Behind the Make-Up,” a colourful I tale of stage life starring Hal Skelly.
Mary Brian’s pet hobby is portrait and water colour painting. Her ability along these lines has earned her considerable praise.
