AUCKLAND TROTS TRACK OPEN YESTERDAY

LOGAN’S PRIDE GEARS UP Although the Auckland Trotting Club management opened the track at Epsom early yesterday morning, there were not many trainers present. The track was in good order for fast tests. Logan’s Pride was hoppled up and Lug Watts sent the Mark Memorial candidate over two miles. It was a strong task that was allotted the Mutt

Park pacer, -without being asked for a speed effort. He did his work in a fashion that pleased the few onlookers. Lady Author (J. Flanagan) was given a steady work-out over a similar distance. The Author Dillon mare was free-legged, and paced neatly throughout.

Unhoppled, Torpedo Huon’s task was four circuits at a solid clip. L. McMahon’s charge revelled in his work and the effort was^impressive. Gold Jacket and Mignonne were also present, but medium pace exercise without the hopples was all that was required of them.

Without displaying anything exceptional in the way of speed, Golden Huia trotted at a steady clip for several circuits. F. Lovegrove’s mare is settling down solidly to her work.

Benefice paced freely over a few rounds at a steady clip. Ken Morrison also had the Metal two-year-old on the track. This youngster, which was got fronr a King George mare, is a robust classy-looking customer, that has a nice style of moving, either with or without the straps. The young trainer has the juvenile in first-class condition.
