EXECUTIVE MEETING
At the meeting of the committee of the Waipa Racing Club on Friday evening, the secretary reported that there was a total of 127 entries for the seven events at the forthcoming race meeting on June 28. Mr. A. Montgomery has secured the publican’s booth.
The work of erecting additional stalls is being rapidly proceeded with. It was stated that the handsome canteen of cutlery to supplement the stake money of £IOO for the Hunters’ Steeplechase was a £4O trophy, thus the total stake for that event was £l4O, instead of the £l3O originallv advertised.
Advice was received from the Railway Department that no guarantee would now* be required for the special race train from Auckland on June 28. The secretary of the Auckland Aero Club wrote in regard to the club’s desire that permission be asked in future for the use of the racecourse as a landing-ground for airplanes. He said no airplanes of that chib had used the course since the tour of the North Island some months ago, when permission was asked for and granted. However, the club’s wishes would be respected.
