MR. J. F. COVENTRY
An old resident of the Te Kuiti district, Mr. J. F. Coventry, died on Wednesday evening at the residence of his son-in-law, Mr. W. Woolford, at Troopers’ Road, Arapae. Mr. Coventry, who had resided in the Dominion for more than 55 years, was born at Brighton, Tasmania, and spent the greater part of his life in Otago. He came to the North Island in 1904, and took up farming in the Ohura. After retiring he' went to reside with his son-in-law. His wife predeceased him 17 years ago. A staunch Methodist, Mr. Coventry was highly esteemed in the district. He leaves a grown-up family of three sons and four daughters. The interment took place at Te Kuiti on Friday. MR. R. HANNAH One of Wellington’s most prominent business men, Mr. Robert Hannah, has died at Wellington at the age of 84. Born in Northern Ireland, Mr. Hannah went to Queensland at the age of 18, but about three years later came to New Zealand. He founded the firm of Hannah and Company, footwear specialists, and in 1874 transferred the head office to Wellington. He was a member of the Onslow Borough Council for some years and he was an adherent of St. John’s Presbyterian Church, at which he hardly ever missed a service until the time of his death. He was also interested in the orphanage and other institutions connected with the church. Mrs. Hannah died about two years ago. Mr. Hannah is survived by three sons and four daughters. Mr. J. A.
