When George Poa, a Maori, attempted to hit a companion at Panmure, he missed and smashed a pane of glass, valued at 7s 6d. This morning, in the Otahuhu Police Court, Messrs. R. B. Todd and G. W Venables, J.P/s, ordered him to make good the damage and to pay seven and sixpence worth of taxi hire. He was allowed a fortnight in which to find the money. “He’s a good worker so long as he leaves the drink alone,” said Sergeant Rowel, on whose recommendation a prohibition order was issued against Poa.
