PROPOSAL FOR CONJOINT CONTROL KING’S AND ST. JOHN’S A special meeting of the St. John’s College Trust Hoard was held in the Diocesan Office yesterday afternoon to consider further the proposals to brine King's College under control of the St John's Board. In the absence abroad of Archbishop Averill, the chair was taken by Bishop Williams, of Waiapu. Discussion lasted more than an hour and was not open to the Press, neither was any statement issued at the con elusion of the meeting, the parties having arranged that the negotiations should be kept secret until matters were finalised. He then stated that discussions had been proceeding between the boards and there was every prospect of the financial difficulties "in the path of amalgamation being overcome. King’s College would then be conducted by the Church of England, but he gave an assurance that it would be carried on [ as at present.
