SPEEDY ENGLISH COLT.—Diolite, by Diophon from Needle Rock, owned by Sir Hugo Hirst, winner of the Two Thousand Guineas last month. Diolite started favourite for the Derby last week, but was beaten into third place by the Aga Khan's colt Blenheim, and Mr. Somerville Tattersall’s colt, Iliad. Diolite is probably a better sprinter and middle-distance performer than a stayer.
