TALKIES AT THE NATIONAL
OPENING NEXT SATURDAY Owing to the delay in the extensive and important structural alterations which are being carried out by the National Theatre, in converting it to a talkie house, the opening performance will not be given until Saturday. June 21. “Her Unborn Child,” a talkie which has been widely acclaimed overseas, will be the first attraction at the National. Based on the famous stage success of the same title, the all-talking version retains some of the members of the original Broadway cast, headed by Adele Ronson, Frances Underwood and Paul Clare. The feature was directed by' Albert Ray and recorded by the De Forest Phonofilm system. The alltalking adaptation was made by Frederic and Fanny Hatton, the well-known team of playwrights, who have to thencredit many successful Broadway plays, including “Lombardi, Ltd. , in which Leo Carillo starred for a number of years.
