A film novelty shortly to be released is “The Loves of Robert Burns,” which is based upon the story by Mr. Reginald Berkeley, author of the no tab : ?
Florence Nightingale play, “The Lao I with the Lamp.” The weli-known tenor, Mr. Robtr. Hlslop, impersonates “Robbie Burns." and sings several of the poet’s me-', famous songs, including “AnriLaurie.” Miss Eve Grey, the Australian actress, plays the part of Mai •• Campbell—Burns’s “Highland Mary” —and Miss Dorothy Seacombe, another Australian, is the Jean Armour. Burns Is represented sympathetically as a lovable, gifted man. battling with poverty and other evils.
This film, which should prove interesting by reason of its being the first appearance of a recognised opera star upon the films, is being produced by the Gramophone Company and the British and Dominion Film . Corporation. It should show, for one i thing, the advance that has been possible in sound-recording.
