FIRST RACE TODAY WEEK TRIAL AT HASTINGS Included in those listed for the Trial Plat© to be run on the second day (next Saturday) of the winter meeting of tho Hawke’s Bay Jockey Club is Nea Lap, the younger full-sister to Phar Lap, who, as a yearling, was purchased by her present owner, Mr. J. J. Gatenby, for 60 guineas. She is one of the team under the tuition of J. M. Cameron, of Hastings, and has yet to make her debut. Tho Trial Plat© is confined to horses .who, at the time of nomination, have not won a stake exceeding lOOsovs. The poundage to be carried is: Two-year-olds, 9st 31b; three-year-olds, lOst; four-year-olds and upward, lOst 21b. Mares and geldings are entitled to claim a three pounds allowance.
The event is to be contested over furlongs. Last season it was won by a two-year-old filly, in Great Lady, a four-year-old mare, the Avondale trained Princess Rain, second, and a three-year-old gelding, Australis, third.
