PREPARING FOR HAWKE’S BAY FIXTURE QUEEN’S CHOICE BEST Press Association HASTINGS, Today. There was very cold weather for training work this morning. All fast work was done on the outside of the course proper. Ponjola and Alaunga were given strong pace work and moved very freely. Both will contest the Hawke’s Bay Steeples on Friday next. Rich Harvest was of little use to Tahoma over a mile in 1.45. Lordlike and Golden Shadow went nicely three-quarters of a mile in 1.1 Si, and both could have done better. King Alanu ran five in 64b and Brown Sugar the same distance comfortably in 66. Whakaua and iZppor gave a fine display over a round of the hurdles. Timipouri and Hillcullus went a mile in 1.56, and Repay and Te Awha four in 04: Bullford. looking very fit, covered five in 664-. Handy jumped well over the Dig fences. Ganpat and Bernera ran six in 1.11 ’ : . Queen’s Choice went five in a tick under 63, the best of the morning.
