GIFT EVENING FOR BRIDE-TO-BE
JOLLY TE PUKE PARTY’ Mrs. Duff and Miss Brown were hostesses at a gift evening given in honour of Miss Bell and Mr. Mollgaard, who are shortly to be married. The evening, which was held in the St. Andrew's Presbyterian Hall. Te Puke, was spent in games and dancing, the music for the latter being supplied by Aliss Place. Airs. Powell and Air. R. Mollgard. After supper the guests of honour opened the numerous gifts. Airs. Duff wore u frock of whit* organdi and Miss Brown was in sprigged muslin. WAIKATO NOTES Miss M. Hay has erturned to Te Kuiri from a visit to Hamilton. Miss Trix Monckton and Miss Ka th Oliver, who have been for the Island trip, have returned to Honolulu. Miss Gertrude Corry, of South Africa, is the guest of Mrs. T. Milroy, in Hamilton. Mrs. Raphael, of Perth, is the guest of her sister-in-law In Hamilton. Miss Gladys Tompkins, who has been for eighteen months in Australia, returned by' the Ulimaroa and is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Tompkins in Hamilton. Mrs. Franklin, of Te Kuiti, is tbo guest of Mrs. Boyes in Hamilton East. PLAT READINGS On Tuesday night in the Methodist Hail the Hamilton Shakespeare Club gave its first reading for the season before a large audience. The play chosen was St. John Ervine’s smart comedy, "The First Mrs. Fraser.” The parts were well cast, and the performance was much enjoyed. The characters were: —Ninian Fraser, Mr. H. F. Morton; Mabel, Miss E. Barrowclough; James Fraser, Mr. E. Bouillon: Janet Fraser. Mrs. Kabe-Harrison: Philip Logan, Mr. E. A. Cox; Murdo Fraser. Mr. AV. L. Ranstead; Alice Fraser. Miss L. Nicholis; Elsie Fraser. Miss E. M. Gordon. * • The Reading Circle of the Lyceum Club chose three one-act plays for its reading on Tuesday evening.
