LOSS OF GOODS
DISAPPEARED FROM GOODS SHEDS SECOND SUSPECT IN DOCK Following the arrest last Friday of a railway servant who was later charged in the Police Court with stealing articles from the Auckland goods shed. Thomas Stanley, a carrier, aged 43, appeared at the Police Court this morning on a charge also connected with the disappearance of the goods from the shed. Stanley, who was represented by Mr. Singer, was charged with the theft of two cups valued at 'S, the property of the Kaiapoi Woollen Company on January 12. He was remanded until Thursday and bai’L was allowed in one surety of £SO. Accused was arrested yesterday by Detective-Sergeant Martin. For s °f n ® months Railway Department officials have been investigating the loss °f goods stored in the railway goods shed. Travellers’ samples and other goods have been pillaged and tne police were notified, DetectiveM if eaut ar tui and Acting-Detective -' ills investigating the case. A search was made in a Newton Road house last. Friday evening. A miscellaneous array of articles of a total value of about £IOO, was removed to the Cenl ’ Police Station. The goods included a gramophone, rugs, drapery and men's and women’s clothing.
