DEVONPORT’S MAYORS

HONOURS BOARD MADE The Devonport Borough Council is now the possessor of a Mayoral “Honours Board.” This innovation was advanced by Mr. E. Aldridge, Mayor of the borough, some time ago, and on Wednesday, the councillors had the opportunity to inspect the new piece of council-room furniture. It is of handsomely-finished oak with lettering in gold leaf. The board cost only £ls. Nine have occupied the Mayoral chair since the borough was formed in 18S6. The names and the dates on The board are:—Mr. Malcolm Niccol. 18S6-90, 1895-96. 1901-02: Mr. IC. W. Alison, 1890-95, 1902-07; Mr. J. C. Mack-*, 1896-1904: Mr. J. Handley. 1907-15; Mr. H. M. Bickford. 19 15-16; Mr. J. Henderson. 1916-19: Mr. H. S. W. King. 1919-23: Mr. T. Lamont, 1923-27: and Mr. E. Aldridge. 1927 to the present time.
