BAPTIST ASSEMBLY

COMMITTEES APPOINTED A welcome to newly-appointed members of the Auckland Baptist Assembly was extended by the new president, the Rev. A. J. Grigg, at a meeting at the Baptist Tabernacle on Tuesday evening. Mr. Grigg hoped for the fullest cooperation Among the members during the coming year. Excellent progress had been reported from the various churches and good results had followed a mission at Morrir.sville. The mission was conducted by Mr. Andrew Johnson, of trie Baptist Training Ins itute. A report from Mrs. J. Simpson said satisfactory work had been done r»y the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children. Mr. T. Dow reported that a film had been made of work accomplished in India under the supervision of the returned missionary. the Rev. H. Jones. The Foreign Missions Committee is to arrange an itinerary for Mr. Jones during his visit. The committees set up were for finance, home missions, foreign missions, temperance and evangelism. Members appointed to the executive committee were Dr. J. J. North, principal of the New Zealand Baptist College: Mr. 2S. Barry, a former president of the Baptist Union; the Rev. L. B. Busfield, secretary to the young people’s division: and Mr. H. H. Driver, official visitor to the Public Hospital.
