Winner to Get Over £ I,OOO Equity

The Steeltex Villa which has beeu announced in the competition has reached the final stage where preparations are being made for work to start. This magnificent prize is to be a Model House recommended by leading construction experts in Auckland. Mr. H. Clinton Savage, the architect who is making the plans, has been in constant consultation with the principal firms supplying the material to be put into the model house. Mr. Savage has taken into consideration every requirement to meet Auckland conditions. The plans have been completed and a full-page advertisement appears in this issue showing the floor plans, elevations, etc. The house when completed will be worth over £2,100. The winner of this prize will be given an equity in this property worth over £I,OOO. Arrangements have been made with the Dominion Investment and Banking Association to finance the balance of the construction cost. Tenders are invited for the building of the house. Working plans and specifications can be seen at Mr. Savage’s office on and after Monday next, and tenders will be received by the architect up to June 30. Construction will be started as soon afterward as possible and within three months the house should be finished. The balance of the cost of the house, which is supplied by the finance company, has been arranged in the form of a long-term loan over a period of 20 years, which may be paid off in monthly payments by the winner. Not only will the house be built but the grounds will be laid out. After the house is completed it will be placed on view for one month before it will be turned over to the winner. Mr. H. Clinton Savage, who has the architectural work and supervision of construction in hand, cordially invites the contestants and their friends to interview him with reference to details of construction. Materials used have been carefully selected from firms of standing, and all material used will be most suitable for New Zealand conditions.
