Old Girls’ Dcmce EPSOM GRAMMAR SCHOOL I FUNCTION PROVES MOST SUCCESSFUL J BLUE AND GOLD STREAMERS The Click Clack Cabaret was thronged with dancer© last evening, when the Epsom Grammar School Old Girls’ Association held a most enjoyable dance. Blue and gold streamers brightly decorated the dance hall, and down stairs in the lounge golden chrysanthemums were arranged on the tables. The Click Clack Internationals, under the direction of Mr. Norman Ganley, provided a splendid programme of dance tunes, and during the evening an exhibition of the modern quickstep and skater’s waltz was given by Miss Margaret O’Connor and Miss Ballantyne. On account of the weather the attendance was below the average. Musical and elocutionary items were given by Mr. and Mrs. Cocks, Miss Dora Cocks. Mr. and Mrs. Wright, and Mr. Ewart Lyne. All the items were good, but mention must be made of Mns. Cocks. She kept the members in laughter for a large part of the evening. Papers on Cornish legends were read by Mrs. Norton, Mrs. Williams and Mr. Cocks. Mr. Uddy gave some anecdotes of Cornwall and Cornish folk.

I WELFARE CIRCLE OF LYCEUM CLUB VARIED FIELD OF ACTIVITY COVERED In the absence of Mrs. W. H. Parkes, the annual meeting- of the welfare circle of the Lyceum Club, held yesterday morning, was presided over by Mrs. B. Buttle, vice-president. The year's report, presented by the honorary secretary, Mrs. A. S. Oxley, stated that the membership was increasing, and now totalled about 320. of whom 72 were working members and the others honorary. A varied field of activity had been covered, including the taking of ex-soldiers from the Evelyn Firth Home for motor drives, knitting and sending of parcels of clothing to Sister Hannah, St. John Ambulance, the City Mission, the Myers Free Kindergarten, the child welfare department of the Education Board, the Women’s Benevolent Society, the Karitane Hospital and other organisations. An activity upon which the circle has concentrated with enthusiasm has been the sending of families each to the seaside in three cottages which it has rented for the purpose. This year nine families benefited by this undertaking. ELECTION OF OFFICERS Officers elected for the coming year are as follow: —Convener, Airs. L. T. Rapson; lion, secretary, Mrs. A. S. Wyatt winning the first prize, and Mrs. Law the secret number prize. The room was prettily decorated with chrysanthemums, autumn leaves, berries, and a beautiful bowl of stylosis. Mrs. F. BENEDICT’S SCHOOL CHILDREN SPEND HAPPY EVENING GAY COSTUME PARTY FUNCTION FOR SCHOOL FUNDS There was great excitement among the children of St. Benedict’s Convent School last evening when the fancy dress ball organised by Miss Aileen Beresford for the school funds was held in St. Benedict's Hall. manner of original and beautiful costumes were worn by the children, who thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
