SCHOOL BURNED DOWN

ANOTHER OUTBREAK AT HIKUTAIA SECOND FIRE THIS WEEK From Our Otcn Correspondent THAMES SOUTH, Today. Fire at five o'clock this morning completely destroyed the Hikutaia School. This is the second fire at the township this week, as Rehm's house and grocery were burned on Tuesday night. A tablet porter, A. P. Capper, saw the reflection of the flames, but thought it was rubbish burning, later seeing it was the school. He ran a quarter of a mile and gave tiie alarm, rousing the schoolmaster, Air. E. Turner, who lived next door. The lack of any water supply resulted in the complete destruction of the building. Rehra and his family were staying at the Turner's and their car, which was parked beside the school, was also destroyed. It was insured for £250 in the Yorkshire Office. The school was not insured and Afr. Turner lost hooks valued at £35. The pupils lost most of their school books.
