AMY JOHNSON CANNOT VISIT DOMINION GIFT OF MAORI DOLL United P.A.—By Telegraph—Copyright Reccl. 12.40 p.m. SYDNEY', Today. Miss Amy Johnson has reluctantly declined the invitation extended to her by women’s organisations in New Zealand to visit the Dominion. She desires to return to England as early as possible after her visit to Melbourne. Miss IJempton, president of the Women’s Auxiliary of New Zealand, presented ‘Miss Amy Johnson with a Maori doll which was dressed to represent Maggie Papakura, the Rotorua guide, and conveyed to her a message of felicitation from the women of New Zealand. Miss Johnson expressed pleasure at the gift and said: “Give my love to the women of New Zealand. I am sorry I am unable to visit them as I intended, but I hope to be able to do so in the future.”
