“NURSING A GRIEVANCE”

Sir, — Your correspondent “Grey Lynn” still harps on the despotic action of the United Party in importing a master from Australia for their banana boat, the Maui Pomare. W r ith your correspondent, and many others, I have been waiting to hear some sort of an explanation as to how Government positions are now filled. I know that, in the past, all Government positions were advertised. Perhaps the saving of the price of the advertisement is part of the Prime Minister’s curtailment in Government expenditure! 1 sympathise fully with the many eligible shipmasters of the Dominion, who were not even invited to apply for the position, and if no explanation can be given by the Government for its action, then all the injured mariners can do is nurse their grievance until the next election. FESTINA LENTE.
